Compatibility Problems with DesignWorks & Windows 10 Creators Update

 

DesignWorks Affected Products:

  • PaintWork
  • CrystalWork
  • CutWork
DesignWorks is not compatible with Windows 10 Creators Update due to vast changes Microsoft has made. The new Windows 10 Creators Update has been available since April 11, 2017. It is being rolled out in stages, so not everyone has got the update yet. If your computer is set to the standard settings you will get it installed automatically and lose the ability to use DesignWorks. The program drawings.exe crashes thus DesignWorks won’t run.
To restore or run DesignWorks on Windows 10 computers you have the following options:
BERNINA apologizes for any inconvenience this currently causes. We were overtaken by this Windows update and are evaluating different options, but please do not expect a fast solution within the next few weeks.
We will inform about further steps by the end of July 2017.
 
About DesingWorks designs:
The design’s as such are saved
The standard folder for the designs is: C:\Users\Public\Documents\BERNINA DesignWorks Samples
 
All DesignWorks Tools can still be used and DesignWorks files of OESD (.exp) are still available. CutWork files (.exp) can be created or used in BERNINA Embroidery Software 8. DesignWorks still runs on Windows 7 and 8.
