E 16: Using Delicate Threads

Variegated thread is an example of a thread type that can be challenging to use on high-speed machines. Users can avoid tension issues and thread breakage when using delicate threads by following these recommendations:

  • Change the thread amount released by the machine
  • Insert a new needle in the proper orientation
  • Check the bobbin case tension
  • Clean and lubricate the hook
  • Slow down the machine speed
  • Watch how thread is coming off the spool to ensure it isn’t getting caught before entering the thread path
