Artlink V^ Error Message

I am using Bernina Artista 185 embroidery machine and the software in my PC is Artlink V6. Every time I try and load a design onto my embroidery module I keep getting this error message "serial port is engaged" I can not send my design to the machine since I got
this message. I have 7 bridesmaids robes to embroider, 2 baby blankets that need 2 panels each embroidered and I'm ripping my hair out! How do I correct this so I can load my designs?
